The Face That Launched A Thousand Ships

Congratulations to Snickers! Our "little old man" won Manager's Choice, 2nd Place on the Tail Waggins Bakery website - yippee! He's such a handsome boy, isn't he. He doesn't actually win anything but that's cool, the notoriety will do just fine. ***edited 5/3/07, Snickers gets to be in their 2008 calendar AND a $15.00 gift certificate! Neat-o!!!***

Thanks to Diana, mom of the LHBB for the heads up! Woo-hoo!

A Conversation with Moomers

Mom: Hey Moomers! Come and sit on the couch with me.

Moomers: Okie dokie (hops up on the couch), hey mom, I gotta question for you.

Mom: What is it sweetie?

Moomers: What is that thing you are doing with all that yarn?

Mom: It's called knitting. You weave it together with these two sticks and out comes something pretty. At least it's suppose to be pretty.

Moomers: Yah... About that knitting thing, you are doing an awful lot of that lately.

Mom: I know, it's super fun.

Moomers: For you maybe, not for me. See, I hate to tell you this but you are slacking.

Mom: Slacking, what do you mean?

Moomers: When did you last update my blog?

Mom: Last week sweetie. I've been really busy...

Moomers: Blah blah blah... I don't want to hear excuses - I want action!

Mom: Well we have been gone the past couple of weekends I know, but I wouldn't call it slacking.

Moomers: I would - slacking slacking slacker slack.

Mom: Boomer, it was my birthday and dad took me out. And then this past weekend I took grandma out for a while and did some shopping for her.

Moomers: You were taking care of grandma? What's the latest?

Mom: Well grandma went and saw the Oncologist yesterday and the doctor told her that in her case, because the tumor was small she can opt out of chemotherapy if she wants. She's got to think about it but I think she's going to do it (opt out I mean). She's lost so much weight that right now chemo would kill her and I think that she never will get as strong as she use to.

She's walking now and not using the oxygen and the doctors are starting to ween her off of her pain medication. And she's getting pissy again - which is a good thing. So all and all I think the worst is over for now.

Moomers: Thanks for the update mom, you are a good daughter AND a good mother if I do say so myself.

Mom: So you are going to cut me some slack?

Moomers: Yeppers.

Hooray for Moomers - smooches all around!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNIE!!!

Hi all!

Do you remember my pal Annie?

She turned 2 years old yesterday! She doesn't look a day over 16 months if I do say so myself, such a pretty girl. Her mom said that when they first got her they nicknamed her Annie Monster because she was a spaz, like all good Brittany's are when they are young. I mean, heck - I'm still a spaz, and I'm 5 years old! Anywho - she's now just a precious little girl and her mom Rebecca's princess.

Annie is one of mom's favorite on the Brittany board, I can certainly see why - look at that nose! Why, she must have a million freckles and I could kiss every one of them... Smoochie smoochie smoochie!!!

Hey, is it getting hot in here or what? I better jump into an ice bath and quick.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNIE!!!

Something is Afoot at the Circle K...

And I don't like it. Mom and dad say I need a bath, and I wholeheartedly disagree. I mean look at me:

I don't look dirty at all. I mean, sure I have toothpaste on my fur from when mom tried to brush my teeth, and yes my beautiful white coat is now kind of dingy, but is a bath really necessary? I think not. Also, they say I smell. I smell absolutely fine - like a fine aged cheese.

Bath - puhlease.

Turbo's breath smells like a bucket of chum, maybe mom and dad should work on that.

Stuff on my Mutt

My dear friends, please check out this blog. I don't know whether I should laugh at the pooches or feel sorry for them. Mom sent a picture of Snickers in with her knitting piled on top of him, a knitting "stack". Hopefully we will see him there soon (but don't tell Snickies, he would be humiliated).

Stuff on my Mutt rules!

I just better not end up on there or I will certainly get Turbo Kitty to poop in someones shoes. Are you listening mom?!

Coming Soon...

Mom is going to start a new blog - hopefully this weekend. She's going to post some pics of her knitting and crochet projects for show and tell. It's not a lot but she thought it would be fun to share and maybe people can leave comments or give her ideas on projects, yarns, etc... Once it's all set up I'll be kind and let her post a link. I'm such a good boy.

She better not forget about my blog dammit - that's all I have to say about that.

I Know, It's Been a While

Mom has been super busy taking care of grandma lately and I have absolutely no clue when this is going to end. I really don't mind but Snickers is getting quite bent out of shape. We all usually eat around 6:30 p.m. but now mom and dad go to grandma's after work and they are there until 7:30 or 8:00?! Poor Snickers has had to rely on his fat reserves to keep him going until feeding time. Annie and I aren't so fragile when it comes to food - we like it but we don't obsess like Snickers. Maybe he needs an intervention.

Here's a picture of Annie and I looking quite pensive:

I look rather scholarly, don't you think?

And here is me playing with my stuffed hedgehog "Hedgie". All you can see is the tip of his red hat but he's there. He's my friend, my companion, the Tonto to my Lone Ranger, the Watson to my Sherlock Holmes, the Brian to my Stewie Griffin.

Here is Turbo Kitty trying to cram himself into his kitty igloo that he's had for over 13 years. He's 16 pounds of solid kitty, we can't believe he can still fit inside (barely!)

I have to be honest, I don't know how long mom is going to be taking care of grandma; turns out the surgery was a lot rougher on her than we all expected. We think the worst is over and things will get back to normal within a few weeks - I hope.

One last thing, I have three great friends on the Brittany website: Dazy Dew, CJ and Doc. They live with a nice lady Diana near us. They wanted to be on the website and I thought, heck yah - let's get them on here. So without further ado, I introduce to you the La Habra Brittany Bunch:

Hooray for the L.H.B.B!

Grandma Update

Hi ho everybody,

Sorry I haven't been around, I have been taking care of my grandma. No, I haven't been to the hospital, I'm just sending her happy Boomer vibes.

Grandma had her surgery on Monday and it lasted five hours - yikes! The doctors said that the tumor was cancerous so they had to remove half of her left lung. They are in the process of biopsying the lymph nodes in that area. The doctor said that the lymph nodes looked okay but they needed to make sure. If the lymph nodes are okay there is a chance that grandma doesn't have to go through chemotherapy. Isn't that wonderful?!

Mom needs a vacation but I don't want her and pop to leave anytime soon, and they can't anyway because of grandma, so I'm thinking mom needs to go to Burke Williams Day Spa for a day of pampering. What do you think? Give me your comments and I'll pass them over to dad.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, both human and poochie! Mom and grandma really do appreciate every one of them.

Boomer, mom's buddy boy...

Don't Forget About the Older Dogs

I believe that we need to take care of our elders. There are many older pooches up for adoption, either through rescue or in shelters, that just want someone to be with them in their old age, just like humans. Sadly, some humans think that a puppy is funner and the old dogs are never given a chance to show their wonderful qualities. If they are fortunate enough to live in a foster home then they have hope, the pooches in shelters - well we know what happens to them unfortunately.

There is a particular foster that a kind lady named Nancy rescued in Nebraska. His name is Blaze and apparently he has been an outside dog all his life. He lived his life outside with his Brittany brothers and sisters but they passed and left Blaze to himself. Being ten years old with no company, that was too much, he would jump a four foot fence, just to find some company.

Nancy found out about him and took him in (though in her words it cost "dearly on the domestic front".) But you know what, Blaze was thankful and I'm sure Nancy's domestic "issues" melted away as soon as they saw this pup's eyes.

Mom has a soft spot for this boy - maybe it's because he's older, maybe it's because he was an outside dog and never part of a family. Maybe it's because she's a total sap... In any case, she wishes she could adopt him but we have a dog limit in the city I live in and my folks can't take in anymore.

That's okay though, I think Nancy might end up adopting him because her and her family are quite taken by this dog. At least that's the joke going around on the Brittany forum. Tee-hee! Blaze is currently be treated for heart worm right now and he's handling it okay - it's a tough treatment but he's a trooper.

So I guess what I am saying is this, young pups are wonderful, beautiful creatures full of life, energy, and curiosity. Just don't forget about the older dogs too - they have just as much life in them, they still can play, they still can have a good time wondering about. The thing with the older dogs is you will be giving them a new lease on life, a new chance to love and a chance to be loved. After all, love is what us pooches all want, young and old.

We love you Blaze!

Positions...

Sleeping positions that is...

Sometimes I like to cover my nose when I sleep...

And sometimes I sleep on my back...

(I look sexy even in my sleep!)

How do you sleep????

Eye update: Okay, don't laugh but now I have a little bald spot over my eye. I guess the spider bite killed off the hair too - what's up with that?! I'm healing up though and soon my eye will be back to normal. Thank goodness that the spider didn't bite me in the eye, just on the eyebrow.

Grandma update: Her surgery is scheduled for the 12th of March. We don't know how long the surgery will last because it depends on if the cancer has spread into her lymph nodes. Mom is going to be a mess that day but us pooches will be taking care of her, along with our dad, and yes - even Turbo Kitty will help out.

I'll keep you posted!

I Had A Run In...

With a spider and it bit me above the eye, can you believe it?

It happened Thursday sometime and on Friday it was so bad, and I felt so crummy that mom had to take me to the doctor! They shot me up with antibiotics and gave me the dreaded cone! Fortunately I'm not scratching my eye so mom took the horrid thing off of me.

Today I feel much better - so much better that we had some more outdoor fun! Also, Snickers and Annie went to the groomers today and came back smelling nice and looking quite fantastic.

Here are some pictures of the fun we had...

This is Annie looking oh so beautiful! I love that nose and I would kiss it if it weren't for the fact she had just finished eating poop a few minutes earlier.

I love this picture of Snickers, he looks so handsome, hubba hubba! Of course, after this picture he got into the hibiscus and got white fly all over him. So much for the bath, eh Snickers?

And this is a picture of me waiting for mom to throw my ball. I look rather sexy, don't you think?

Mom and dad are just relaxing today, they've been watching the "Family Guy" all day, Freaking Sweet!

Outside Fun

I love to play with my tennis ball - it's my "art". Every day mom comes home from work and comes outside to greet us and she always has my "chuck-it" ball launcher in hand. When I see my chuck it I know it's time to play and I get all dippy. She'll chuck the ball, I'll run like mad to get it then bring it back, and then she'll throw it again. Over and over until I'm all warn out. I just love it.

What is Snickers and Annie doing while I'm playing? Well, they are either scratching the ground for grubs, or eating poop. Sometimes Snickers will run around like a goof, sometimes Annie will watch mom and I, but mostly it's grub and poop eating time.

Look at Annie's ear's in this picture, I just love them! Sometimes mom looks at her and cries. I think it's because someone treated Annie bad before she came to live with them. Mom shouldn't cry, Annie is safe and happy here at home.

Here's Snickers telling mom to hurry up and take the picture so he could go inside and eat! With Snickers, it's all about the food.

And finally, here's an up close picture of my face.

Kiss my nose baby, you know you want to!

Update on grandma: First of all, thank you to all of you who have kept grandma in your poochie prayers. The doctors think that they can remove the cancer through surgery so we are waiting to get that scheduled, hopefully in early March. Grandma's dog, Bob, is taking good care of her and will keep guard up until she goes into surgery, then mom and dad, and her brothers will take over from there. Bob is a good dog, a true Carin Terrier with a heart of gold.

Talk to you later my friends!

The Love That Dares Not Speak It's Name

This is Turbo and... Mouse Mouse:

Oh sure, this looks innocent, a cat with his toy mouse, but this is no ordinary relationship. They have had, shall we say, "relations". Turbo first met Mouse Mouse when he was a wee little kitty and it was love at first sight. After 10 years, their love for each other is still going strong. Late at night you can hear Turbo sing love songs to his mouse. Sometimes he howls with ecstasy and he's even been caught, how shall I say this, well there is just no other way. Turbo has been caught humping his mouse. Repeatedly, I mean sheesh, get a room you weirdo cat.

Anyway, I think that it's wonderful that Turbo found his mate, even if it's another species, and a toy. Who are we to deny these two the love that they deserve! Turbo loves his mouse and he's not going to hide it!

Hey, I'm on a roll and I proudly admit that I love my hedgie. But I'll be damned if you catch me humping that thing.
