I'm So Sorry

You know, I haven't had time to write lately and Boomer is quite upset with me about that. It's just that I have been so busy with the holidays now in full swing. My mom has more surgery scheduled on the 19th of December (nothing like what she had - she's still cancer free!) and I will have to take care of her for a couple of days. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm sorry for not updating Boomer's site. I know it doesn't draw a lot of people but still...

Hopefully the new year will bring more free time, if not I might have to wind this site down. Or do you think I should leave it and only update it once in a while. Boomer is a very opinionated dog so I am sure he would want to speak up once in a while.

I also apologize for not stopping by other poochie blogs lately - it's not that I don't want to, it's just the whole time issue. I hope you understand.

Blessings to you and yours and I am planning on getting the Hackler Hound's Christmas cards mailed by early next week.

DWB Christmas Card Exchange Notice

If you see an address for "The Hackler Hounds", that's us. Mom was trying to make things simple but then she realized that no one knows who the heck the "Hacker Hounds" are. She should have listed Boomer, Annabelle and Snickers...but she's a dork.

Sorry for any confusion!

Alpacafest West

Boomer's mom here...

Alpacafest West proved to be all I could ask for and more. I pretty much was on an alpaca high the whole day, even though we were there for only three hours or so.

The event had alpaca competitions as well as vendors who hocked their wares. I bought some alpaca finger puppets for my niece Shelby. Okay, one is for her and the other is for me. Check out her site if you have a moment, she's a terrific artist.

Hubby and I really want to purchase some alpaca's and hopefully one day we will be able to. It's pretty expensive process so we won't be able to do anything for a couple of years but until then we will keep going to events like this to learn as much as we can.

What can you learn you ask? Well there are two types of alpacas, the Suri and the Hucaya:

These lovely ladies are Suri's. Their fur is corded, kind of like a mop. Their fleece is very soft what I understand more desirable than the Hucaya's who's fleece is more like wool. White alpaca's are seem pretty popular to own because their fleece can be dyed to almost any color whereas if you have a grey, black, brown, or silver alpaca you will have a harder time dying the fleece. I could be wrong but that's what I have observed.

This sweet suri boy is Trident. He was such a sweetie and just loved to be pet. I guess their personalities are much like cats, fairly independent, but there are a few that really love their people and Trident was one of them.

Here is a group of Hucaya's. Aren't they adorable!?! I love the spots on the girl in the front. Like I said earlier their fleece is fluffy like wool and it's very soft as well, but I have to admit the suri's fleece felt softer to me. Look at their eyes, such beautiful eyes and they have long eyelashes - very sweet indeed.

Biggie, you most definitely can guard the alpaca's for us. In fact, I insist!!!

And lastly, I wonder if Boomer has had one too many pints with Finnegan...

Me thinks so.

Dog Park Fun

First of all...

Is this Annie

or

Simon?

I just don't know!

Mom and dad took me to the dog park the other day and I met my girl Dazy Dew and her pal Blue. Mom got one picture before her camera died (yah, she's a dork) so here it is.

Dazy is the smaller britt and Blue trying to give her a kiss. I'm just hanging back, not trying to look desperate.

The lady in the pink sweater is Diana and she is Dazy's slave...er I mean mom. The lady in the brown shirt is Cheryl and she's Blue's slave...er I mean mom.

The guy behind Diana is my pop but you really can't see how handsome he is in this picture.

This weekend mom and dad are going to this thing called Alpacafest West where they are going to see tons and tons of Alpaca's. Mom keeps telling me she's going to get alpacas one day because they are adorable. I think they look kind of dorky but hey - to each is own, right?

Trooper the Graduate

Hi ho!

Remember my little buddy Trooper? Well I am proud to say that he graduated puppy school last week. His mom told me that he has learned to sit, shake, stay, and play fetch; and he's like only four or five months old!

Next he will be pursuing his Masters in Science. More specifically he is studying the Chaos Theory as it relates to the time evolution of the magnetic field of celestial bodies.

Congratulations Troop on your graduation. Don't forget us little pooches when the Nobel Peace Prize in Physics.

Boomer's Mom Checking In

Hello!

Boomer is outside barking at a squirrel, or maybe it's a mocking bird, or perhaps a sparrow... I really think that he has no clue as to what he's barking at but he's happy and Annie and Snickers seem quite amused with Boomers show so who am I to say anything.

I have been knitting away. I'm almost done with my sweater - yippee! I have to finish the neckline and sleeves and that's it. I'm very excited to see how it all turns out and I will definitely post pictures.

I did take a small break from knitting on the sweater because I got tired of working with the same beige color for so long. Here's what I worked on...

The pattern for these fingerless gloves is called "Fetching" and you can find it here. I really like the way they turned out, though I think I'm going to make them a little longer next time. Here's another view:

The only changes I made to the pattern is that I did two rows of stockingnette stitch at the beginning which makes the little curl. At the end there is a fancier bind-off but I like the basic bind off better.

Because these were so much fun to make I figure I'll make a few more pairs as Christmas gifts. Here's a picture of the yarns I picked up at a great local yarn shop called Unraveled in Monrovia, CA. If you live in the area you should go check it out. The staff is wonderful and they have a good selection of yarns to choose from.

The denim blue and lavender are from Plymouth yarns and the Berroco yarn is for ME! HAHAHA!!! It's a GORGEOUS yarn and you can't really tell in the picture but it's a beautiful verigated gold yarn - it should work up nicely.

Well I think Boomer is done barking so I better go let him inside. Annie gave up looking for what he was barking at a long time ago and is now sleeping on her red chair. I think Snickers is still outside, probably eating a piece of poop.

See you later!!!!

Cute Pooch Alert

Hi ho everyone...

I made a new friend and you know what - he's famous! Yep he is - he was even on The Daily Puppy!

Meet Biggie Z, the Kuvasz! WARNING - PUPPY ALERT!!!!

Isn't he the cutest little guy! Mom has a soft spot for the Kuvasz - I think because they aren't well known here in the states. She met one once at a dog show and she's been silly over them ever since.

Here is what the AKC has to say about the Kuvasz...

"A spirited dog of keen intelligence, determination, courage and curiosity. Very sensitive to praise and blame. Primarily a one-family dog. Devoted, gentle and patient without being overly demonstrative. Always ready to protect loved ones even to the point of self-sacrifice. Extremely strong instinct to protect children. Polite to accepted strangers, but rather suspicious and very discriminating in making new friends. Unexcelled guard, possessing ability to act on his own initiative at just the right moment without instruction. Bold, courageous and fearless. Untiring ability to work and cover rough terrain for long periods of time. Has good scent and has been used to hunt game."

Wow, I think the AKC says Brittany's are "dorky". Or maybe that's just me? Oh well, I embrace the dorkiness in me.

Anywho, stop by and say "hi ho" to Biggie Z when you can. He sure is a cutie patootie!

I'm a Boomer Sooner but...

...don't you think this is taking things a bit too far?

OU fan accused of gruesome injury to man clad in UT shirt

The Associated Press

To some University of Oklahoma football fans, there are things that just aren't done in the heart of Sooner Nation, and one of them is to walk into a bar wearing a Texas Longhorns T-shirt.

That's exactly what touched off a bloody skirmish that left a University of Texas fan nearly castrated and an Oklahoma fan facing aggravated assault charges that could put him in prison for up to five years.

The case has set off a raging debate in this football-crazed region about the extreme passions behind a bitter rivalry. Some legal observers even question whether this case could ever truly have an impartial jury.

"I've actually heard callers on talk radio say that this guy deserved what he got for wearing a Texas T-shirt into a bar in the middle of Sooner country," said Irven Box, an attorney in this city 20 miles from OU's campus in Norman.

Police say Brian Christopher Thomas, 32, walked into Henry Hudson's Pub on June 17 wearing a Longhorns T-shirt and quickly became the focus of football trash talk from another regular, Sooners fan Allen Michael Beckett, 53.

Thomas told police that when he went to the bar to pay his tab, Beckett grabbed him in the crotch, pulled him to the ground and wouldn't let go, even as other bar patrons tried to break it up.

It took more than 60 stitches to close the wound, and police interviewed Thomas at a nearby hospital.

Beckett's attorney, Billy Bock, concedes that his client commented about Thomas' shirt but said that it was just good-natured ribbing and that he apologized to Thomas when it appeared to upset the Texas fan. Later, Bock said, Thomas approached his client at the bar and threatened him.

Thomas' attorney disputes Beckett's version. "That's total malarkey," Hughes said. "My client never said a word to him. He got up to pay and when he paid and left a tip, the guy grabbed him."

Beckett, a church deacon, federal auditor and former Army combat veteran, has pleaded not guilty. His next court appearance comes Oct. 4, two days before the Sooners and Longhorns tangle in their annual football game at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

I Blame the Heat!!!

This is us all happy last week, before our electricity went out...

We are all happy, dad is looking quite handsome, Annie has a big smile on her face, and Snickers is being scratched on his butt - he loves that.

Then the electricity went out...

Then it got hot...

And HOTTER...

It went on for EIGHT HOURS!!! It was 108 degrees in our backyard and it was at least 90 degrees in the house. It made for very grumpy parents and pooches.

After eight hours the electricity came back on and we could hear the angels sing. We all breathed a sigh of relief, we would sleep in air conditioning - hooray.

Then the next day, the electricity went out again...

and it got hot Hot HOT!!! 108 on the back porch again! Grumpy pooches and parents AGAIN!

Nine hours later the electricity came back on and the angels sang. Annie howled for joy, Snickers barked, and I went to give the air conditioning gods my hedgie and squishy as thanks.

I said, "Oh air conditioning gods. You know I love my hedgie and squishy ball, but I love air conditioning more. I give to you, my babies, a part of myself. I give to you hedgie and squishy. They have given me much joy and I want you, oh air conditioning gods, to enjoy them. I lift my paws to you in thanks".

Yes, yes I did say that.

So now things are back to normal around here and we couldn't be happier. So now I can carry on with telling you about our favorite foods here at the headquarters of Boomfreakah...

River my pal you wanted to know what my five favorite foods are - here you go.

Pumpkin (really, it's like an addiction)
Tomatoes
Cheese
Eggs
Breakfast burritos!

I should explain that once a week mom and dad get breakfast burritos for dinner and mom can't eat a whole one so once a week we get the leftovers. Imagine, cheese, bacon, potatoes, all wrapped up in tortilla goodness.

Now mom has very high cholesterol so she can't eat from her list of favorite foods, but if she could, this is what she should have every freakin day!!!!

Chocolate cake
Strawberry Pop Tarts
Cheetos Puffs
Oreo Cookies
Starbucks Mocha Frappachinos

She shouldn't be having breakfast burritos either but it's just once a week and she's good the rest of the time so I will cut her some slack. For now.

It's Boomer's Mom

Hi there,

Boomer is sleeping right now so I thought I would sneak in and post some pictures of the sweater I'm working on.

This is the back of the sweater. I'm currently working on the sleeves so I still have a ways to go, but I should be done with this part by the weekend. You can't tell from the pictures but there are little flecks of color worked into the yarn which gives it some depth.

Here's a close-up with the sleeves. I will be increasing every 6th row for the next 36 rows to create the sleeves. This is a very simple to follow pattern which is nice since this is my first sweater. I downloaded the pattern from Vogue Knitting. The site is currently under construction but you can still look at some of the cover designs and download those patterns.

Here is Turbo kitty with all his toys. He's all better now - he has gained back his weight and his fur looks nice and shiny again. We are all very thankful that Turbo is okay (yes, even the dogs!).

I also want to apologize for not visiting everyone's blogs lately. I have been really busy at work and sick as well so I'm quite tired when I get home and don't want to spend much time on the computer. I hope you all understand.

I have also noticed that Boom's blog hasn't had many comments lately. I hope that you are still enjoying it. If you have any suggestions for improvements please let me know.

Finally, I want to thank Jason with the Fleas Gang for figuring out the code for my American Brittany Rescue button on the left side of the page. I tried and tried but I couldn't get it to work and then Jason came to the rescue.

Blessings,
Carol

More Wacky Brittany's for your Viewing Pleasure

Holy Crap!!!

My great friends on the Brittany forum rock! I asked for pictures and I got pictures. Do you think if I asked for money they would send me money? Do you think if I asked for tomatoes they would give me tomatoes? Oh the possibilities are endless, and now I'm drooling. I need a mop!

You say tri-color britts don't exist? You doubt me, the great Boomfreakah? Well my people, my homies, my dogs - here's proof.

I present to you, THE Trey Louie - Tah dah!!!!

He's a young pup that was fostered by mom's Brittany pal Nancy! Whenever mom looks at this picture she wants to go out and buy a puppy. Geesh mom, three dogs and a pissy kitty are enough already!

And then there is Hope. Now this hot babe makes me swoon, I mean check out that smile. Do you see Heidi Klum smiling like that? I don't think so:

Hope is the bee's knees, the bomb, a babe, the living end, hot stuff, a goddess, and.....yep you guess it - a liver and white Brittany too.

What about some boy Britts for all the ladies in the house... But please ladies, don't through your underwear at them, throw bully sticks. Nothing wins a Britt over like a bully stick.

Here's Piper, he likes long walks on beaches at sunset:

Darby likes to boogie the night away at the local discotheques. Darby says that Sierra (the o & w) is just a "friend".

Pete is a sensitive guy, but don't mistake that for not being manly! He is just so secure in his manliness that he doesn't need to show it off.

And finally ladies, if you like "exotic" Britts, here is Mikey, a French Britt.

That's it for the men ladies. Now don't worry, this isn't the latest season of "The Bachelor", there is plenty of Brittany love to go around. Speaking of Brittany love, check out the sibling love between Scout and Kallie.

And even though she's not a Britt (mom can't remember, she's getting so old!), this picture of Spotsie is just too freakin adorable:

And lastly, speaking of "freakin adorable:

My work is done.

Boomer Has A Secret

Boomer: Hey mom, I got a secret to tell you about Brittany's. Do you want to try and guess first?

Mom: Okay! Is it that you guys are just wacky?

Boomer: Nope

Mom: Do you guys like to run around like you have no sense?

Boomer: Nope

Mom: Is it that you Brittany's get all dippy over cheese, pumpkin, liver, and as Wally would say "tomatables"

Boomer: Nope, you have one more guess...

Mom: Ummm, I dunno Boomer, what's your secret about you wacky Brittany's?

Boomer: We come in different colors!!! We come in liver and white AND even tri-colors!

Mom: I see, that is a major secret Boom. (I knew that but didn't want to ruin his surprise)

Boomer: Yah, I'm the first to break the news. I'm on the scene, I'm all over it, I have the scoop. I'm like a cross between Fox News, CNN, and Perez Hilton. I'm IT baby...

Mom: You know Boomer, I bet there are people out there in blog-land that have never seen a liver and white or tri-color Brittany, do you have pictures?

Boomer: Does a bear sh...

Mom: BOOMER!!!

Boomer: Okay, okay... It's picture time!!!!

Here's my good buddy Buster romping through the bluebells. See, he's got lots of liver and white spots on his body and face.

This handsome devil is Cooper enjoying his bath, and drinking the water at the same time. Way to multi-task Cooper!

And here is a very serious Cooper, we Britts can be serious too you know. Whenever there is cheese in the room all the play stops until said cheese is devoured.

This is our beach blanket baby Kayla. Such a beautiful pose Kayla! I like the little bit of white around her nose. Sexy!

And here is my good buddy Rowdy, and his tribute to The Clash. Yah, London's Calling baby!

Um Rowdy, you need to replace that hat with a Sooner's hat.

Rowdy says, "Kiss my nose!" SMOOCH!!!

I'll post some pictures of some tri-colors in the next few days.

Trooper Thornton

Some of you might be familiar with the great John Wayne movie, The Quiet Man. John Wayne plays a character named Sean “Trooper” Thornton who moves to the Emerald Isles to escape the boxing demons that haunt him. There he meets the beautiful Mary Kate Danaher and marries her, much to the disgust of his brother “Red” Will Danaher. From there wackiness ensues leading up to the best fight scene ever in a movie. If you haven’t seen this movie, you should be ashamed of yourself. It is a classic and John Wayne never looked better.

I wonder if this Trooper has any demons from his past? He’s only three months old so I would hope not.

Mom’s good working buddy John and his family suddenly lost their beloved dog Tanner a few weeks back. As with all heartbreak, God always allows a little sunshine to come through. For them, it is Trooper! Hooray!

They picked him up at the Downey Animal Shelter, the same place mom and dad got Snickers. What a co-inky-dink! Trooper is obviously a scrappy looking young man, and is so smart that both Mensa and the Rand Corporation are looking to recruit him. That would be a good thing because us pooches need someone on the “inside” if you know what I mean.

While John and his family would never dream of replacing their Tanner, it’s nice that they have opened up their hearts and home to little Trooper.

Hooray for Trooper!!!!!

Deadliest Catch, Featuring Snickers

Snickers is commander of his own ship - look!

I think his obsession with The Deadliest Catch has gone too far. Oh well, it makes him happy and that's all that matters.
